Lalaland Bali

Bali's most Instagrammable villa! Soaring heights, century-old teak structures, contemporary pieces of mad furniture and art, a dedicated crew, lawns, endless ricefield views, and 2 cool pools make this a wonderful clubhouse of a home. Lalaland, as it is known, sits within a radius of world-class surf spots, yoga spaces filled with cute yogis, mad little nightclubs, bars, and superb restaurants. we also have the most delicious homegrown pineapples, bananas, papayas and mangoes on the island! The space Our home is a refurbishment of an existing residence, originally a composition of three old ‘joglo' houses hailing from the neighbouring island of Java. The main house has been adapted to our needs with the introduction of mezzanine spaces for added comfort and privacy, while retaining the old teak structures and timber flooring. The house is first accessed via a garden courtyard, featuring a large circular reflecting pool and an angular deck which work to feed visitors from the parking area into the main living space. On the way through the courtyard guests are also introduced to the massive egg structure that is the guest bathroom! The layout of our home is composed of two main pavilions organized in an L-shaped arrangement plus a detached 2 bedroom guest house. One pavilion accommodates a kitchen that opens onto both the living room and the alfresco-type dining area, orientated to the west to overlook the garden, the pool and the rice fields. The second pavilion holds the bedrooms on the ground floor and a library relaxation space on the mezzanine level. In between the pavilions there is a very comfortable media room. Stroll down a short garden path and you arrive at the 2 bedroom guest house with private pool, kitchen and living room. Bedroom 1 is more than a hundred square meters in size with a patio accessing the garden and pool area. The ceiling of its ensuite bathroom and dressing room are covered with capiz shells and complemented by personal artworks on the walls, old ceramic tiles on the floor and a wonderful outdoor shower area. Bedroom 2 is made up of two very comfortable twin beds surrounded by artworks, rainbows and beautiful old teak. A rather green ensuite bathroom and a bamboo garden for a backyard complete this room. Bedroom 3 has a king-sized bed that overlooks its own private entrance patio. The ensuite bathroom has a comfortable nook to relax on. Bedroom 4 is the guest house master bedroom with high cellings and circular sky lights. Bedroom 5 located in the guest house is a loft area overlooking the living space of the guest house. The eclectic interiors come from a combination of contemporary furniture pieces, collected and created artworks, and other “bits and pieces" from the world over – all of which sit in contrast to the traditional century-old teak joglo structure. This house has literally become our canvas.
