Our home is a 1066 sqft bungalow on a third of an acre lot backing onto the Bowness Park Lagoon. There are 2 useable bedrooms on the main floor and one in the basement. The living room has an electric fireplace and the kitchen includes an induction stove, microwave and all the modern appliances. The basement is developed with a bedroom, laundry room, and an entertainment room with a TV with DisneyPlus and Netflix, a mid-size bar, arcade Pac-Man, air hockey table and lots of games and puzzles. The backyard has a trampoline, climbing structure, fire pit, and a deck. Down the back hill we have a dock, paddle boat, canoe, SUP boards and kayaks.
We love our place, however areas for improvement include some of the original 1960s features, the long single lane driveway, and sometimes busy access onto 48th Ave which leads to the entrance of Bowness Park.
Location
Situated on the south eastern edge of Bowness Park, our property backs onto the busy lagoon and is a favourite spot for paddle boating in the summer and ice skating in the winter. The park itself is highly used for picnicking and accessing the Bow River. Bowness park features: a tea house, boat house/skate shop, paths, playgrounds, shelters, washrooms, firepits, bbq stands, outdoor ice skating on the lagoon, wading pool and cross-country skiing.
The Bow River is a short walk away and provides habitat for wildlife and many opportunities for recreation such as fishing and boating. Both fly fishermen and spinner fishermen share the river in all four seasons of the year.
WinSport's Canada Olympic Park is the premiere site of the XV Olympic Winter Games in Calgary, and is the most visible legacy of the 1988 games. Many of Canada's high performance winter sport athletes train at the park, which also functions as a recreation, competition, tourism and hospitality area. Activities include: Summer Bobsleigh, Zipline, Downhill Mountain Biking, Mini Golf, Ski Jump Tower Tour, Activity Centre, Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, New Skyline Luge, Winter Bobsleigh Ride, Skiing, Snowboarding, curling and hockey.
