A new restaurant nestled between Gastown and Railtown that took five years to develop has finally opened its doors, and Vancouverites are in for a special treat. The Lounge recently made its debut and serves up mouth-watering culinary creations that blends together traditional Indian and French flavours. The owner had a specific vision for his beautiful restaurant—he travelled around the world collecting and curating décor, and worked with his team to design and build custom furniture pieces for the space. As soon as guests arrive at the entrance of the dining establishment, they will come face-to-face with a 135 year-old teak wood turquoise door embellished with multi-coloured elephants (a nod to The owner's Indian roots) that was imported straight from India. The interior is even more impressive—think crystal chandeliers, a large gold-coloured Buddha accompanied by matching pillars as the centerpiece of the bar, upholstered seats and walls lined with silk, and traditional Indian seating with low tables and rolls. Besides the breathtaking atmosphere, guests will find a menu that showcases organic, fresh, and locally sourced dishes. The kitchen team at Silk prepare items as they are ordered, and use everything from traditional Indian curries made from hand-milled spices to hand-made sauces.
