A Great Lakes landmark with it's Japanese-style red tile roof, this is known by the locals as the Pagodahouse and was Henry Ford's right-hand man Harry Bennett (head of Ford Security Dept / union buster) and family's residence. It was built like a bridge by the Ford Motor Company on huge caissons driven into bedrock on the Detroit River. Harry was known to take one of the yachts from one of the lower level boatwells or the tunnel to a car secretly waiting to drive him to work at the Rouge Plant. The upper level was designed and faux-finished by Ford Artisans, and features ornate plaster work, hidden passages and gold leaf ornamentation.
