Our Cottage is an idyllic film and TV shoot location nestled in the heart of central Wairarapa, New Zealand. Just a short drive from State Highway 2 and neighboring towns like Carterton, Greytown, and Martinborough, this gem of a setting offers a unique blend of modern cottage gardening. Encompassing 1.1 hectares, the Cottage stands as a distinguished 4-star rated garden by the New Zealand Gardens Trust, showcasing a captivating array of themed garden 'rooms' that unfold around a picturesque pond with a small island. Nestled at the base of the Longbush Valley, our garden benefits from a mostly flat terrain, harmoniously framed by the surrounding arable land and hills. This unique setting offers enchanting 'borrowed' views, adding depth and character to the landscape, and providing an exceptionally versatile backdrop for your creative vision. Surrounding a quaint 1890s cottage with two verandas, the gardens showcase a distinctive character, evolving with each season. Described as modern cottage gardening, the landscape seamlessly integrates traditional cottage garden plants like roses and iris with contemporary elements, such as grasses and late-flowering perennials. Notably, native New Zealand plants are artfully incorporated, grounding the garden style in a Kiwi context. In addition to the picturesque surroundings, the Cottage will soon feature large, ornate and modern glasshouses, each providing up to 30m2 of additional shoot locations starting from March 2024. Open to the public from September to May annually, the garden boasts an array of seasonal displays, including daffodils, tulips, irises, peonies, roses, dahlias, early and late perennials, and native flora.
