The Hart pottery is believed to be the 1st stone ware pottery in Canada West, The Pottery factory was built in 1849, it was demolition in 1963. Currently 8 books have either documented the pottery or the house itself. The home was built in 1852, some of the original fixtures of the home are save. The house features 17 original 12 by 12 windows from 1852, along with original hardwood floors and fireplace.
The style of the home is modelled after a classic designed to that similar of Samuel Hart home in Fulton New York. The home has been kept in good condition. The house's classic, yet simple elegance has survived history. Its unusual asymmetric design with the short side wing and long tail, allows for easy access from room to room. The upper story of the house had suffered less renovations allowing it to retain a more historic atmosphere.
The home sits on an acre of land, Picton Bay can been view from the backyard.
