Boxing Gym

Boxing Gym is a rare, living relic of boxing’s golden era - an authentic, old-school fight gym that has provided free access to both youth and professional fighters for over 40 years. Originally opened in 1982 in Manhattan, This gym quickly became a sanctuary for over 200 fighters. After its closure in Manhattan in 1985, founder Mario relocated the gym to Jersey City, where it continues to operate with the same raw spirit and dedication to the sport and the community. The gym’s gritty, timeworn aesthetic makes it a standout location for filmmakers seeking authenticity and cinematic texture. Every inch of the space tells a story, from the sweat-stained ring canvas to the worn leather bags and aged wooden floors. The walls are covered in vintage fight posters, black-and-white photos, and memorabilia honoring the legends who trained here, including Mike Tyson, Arturo Gatti, Hector Camacho, Mike Mccallum, Iran Barkley, and many more. The most distinctive feature is a window behind the main ring that looks out onto Mike Tyson’s original pigeon coop, which is still home to nearly 700 birds. Tyson would train at this gym watching his pigeons - a deeply personal and cinematic visual unique to this location.
