Restored Victorian Home In Caledon

Built in 1877, a proud example of Victorian farmhouse design and a designated heritage property in the village of Cheltenham in Caledon. Recently renovated to carefully preserve and restore the historic architecture and character that define its 150 year old legacy. Architectural Detailing: Paneled mouldings were added throughout the main floor, while custom cabinetry was crafted for the office, bar, and living room to reflect period charm. A tin ceiling in the office was installed and painted to blend seamlessly with the surrounding walls and trim. Any new baseboard, casing, crown moulding and interior doors were custom-milled to match the home’s original profiles. Instead of replacing the interior hardware, the original knobs and latch systems were carefully removed, restored, and refinished to bring back their original character. Main floor has almost 9' ceilings and upper level has 8' ceiling height. Flooring: Carpet was removed to reveal the original pine subfloors, which were sanded and stained to brighten each space while showcasing the home’s authentic materials. Site finished, solid oak herringbone replaces the dated dining room hardwood and finished to match the stain of the pine. Finishes & Palette: Bathroom and bar tiles were chosen to echo the late 19th-century period, while walls and trim were painted in rich, historically inspired tones from Farrow & Ball’s heritage collection. Brass hardware and fixtures were used throughout the home. Buster and Punch switches and dimmers were used throughout. Please note: the house is currently furnished. Pictures at the end of the photos.
